Puella aeterna embodies the eternal girl, grappling with the task of attempting to let go, without giving up entirely.

She navigates the complexities of arrested development, influenced by recurring thoughts and behaviours such as psychological checking-back, repetitive compulsion, and a tendency towards escapism. She loops here, holding her in a state of perpetual adolescence and clinging to unrealistic aspirations and expectations.

In this journey of reverse-rescripting, we observe a more mature puella:

I am conscious of my entanglements.

I praise my efforts to unravel layers of attachment.

I employ various strategies to navigate my constraints.

I affirm my determination to escape the traps that have shaped me.

I appreciate my problem-solving skills.

I honour my resourcefulness in dismantling these barriers.

Through this lens, we witness the intricate interplay of growth and struggle, a relentless process of striving to release oneself from the internalised mechanisms and patriarchal structures which perpetuate destructive patterns and suffering.

This work contains suicidal references, uses a soft strobe and a live animal (dog), who will come proximal to the audience.
